IDENTITY: How might citizenship become both more portable and more fluid?
Technology enables us, as global citizens, to easily transcend physical borders and form shared interest groups virtually.
In the future, we take that one step further to create virtual nation states that lack physical borders, and presence but can protect and act on behalf of their citizens, just as traditional states do today.
These nations can form based on shared ideologies, craft, friendship… anything. And with governments, legal systems, and economies of their own, people around the world can become dual-, triple-, even quadruple-citizens, of as many nations as they desire.
